"I am like a room where things once happened and now nothing does, except the pollen of the weeds that grow up outside the window, blowing in as dust across the floor."
-Margaret Atwood.
The floor was dusty and the room was dark. The only light spot was when the sun's rays shone through the unclean window, only to instantly hit the wooden flooring. The small, red chair Kayla sat herself in was almost touching the small light the sun had given and although there was no sign of a picture, its frame was noticeably crooked but perfectly placed on the center of either wall beside her.
It was cold. Not temperature-wise. No.. the room's temperature was comfortably warm. Her heart, her feel, is what lost its warmth. The people she loved are gone. They left. All the while taking back the gifts they once gave her.
And that music box? The one Kayla's heart belonged to..
Her mother's music box is gone.
Kayla had nothing left. Not even a single tear. Her emotions were no longer with her for she had the life sucked out of her. Anything and everyone she had ever loved abandoned her, leaving nothing left but an empty space within her soul.
